Description
INFORMATION:
RARE classic calypso-funk LP from Original Tropicana Steel Band. Has the classic floor rockers "Yellow Bird" and "Calypso Rock". This IS NOT the Polydor-UK or the Peter International pressing...this is the ORIGINAL Dynamic Sounds Recording Company pressing from Jamaica. Back cover has a tiny silver sticker that says "Made in Jamaica by Dynamic Sounds Recording Co. Ltd." and the labels (shown below) has the original press year (1975) plus 'Manufactured by Dynamic Sounds, 15 Bell Rd.'.
1975 Dynamic Sounds/Polydor Records. GUARANTEED original pressing: (stock# 2460 261 on labels & cover). Run-outs have the stock #DSR-2163 on the A-side & #DSR-2164 on the B-side with the initials "K.M." following each. Vinyl is in a strong VG+ condition. Has some surface marks, mostly visual. A couple you can feel with a fingernail. One in particular is at the start of "Calypso Rock" and makes a small tick here & there. Nothing overpowering. Cover is in VG to VG+ condition. Has tape along top and bottom edge. Light fading, but overall decent shape. Sound files from ACTUAL record.

On Aug-24-09 at 12:10:13 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE ON CONDITION: In the process of recording sound files, and I noticed towards the very end of the track "Yellow Bird", the needle makes one jump. This is the same surface mark that is mentioned in the original description which starts at the end of "Yellow Bird" and runs into "Calypso Rock" briefly. The start of "Calypso Rock" makes a bit of noise then the tick gradually fades away within seconds. Sound files will be posted up soon. Thanks.

On Aug-25-09 at 10:22:28 PDT, seller added the following information: ANSWERS TO A COUPLE OF RECENT QUESTIONS:
- I consider this the original pressing of the LP based on the release date given. The version I'm selling was manufactred in 1975, then later a 2nd U.K. version (with identical artwork cover) was released in 1976. That same year in 1976, the Peters International Company (from NYC) also released a version with a totally different cover.
- The cardboard stock of the cover is very thick. On the bottom of the rear cover, it does mention that it was "Printed and made in England by James Upton Ltd.", however there is a small silver sticker in the upper right rear corner that suggests the item was "Made In Jamaica by Dynamic Sounds Recording Co. Ltd.". The label scans are the ACTUAL labels from the LP, and there is no mention of England anywhere on either label.
