LP : Trio Conception The Jan Huydts / Peter Trunk / Joe Nay Trio recorded “Live” at Blue Note Berlin

Original Dutch MONO pressing from 1963 on PHILIPS, P 48084 L. Laminated front, extensive liner-notes in English and German on the non-laminated back. Recorded "Live" At Blue Note, Berlin, December 16th &17th, 1963. The trio had performed for ca. 3 months together at the Blue Note, backing artists like Donals Byrd, Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin a.o. The interplay was at it's peak when they recorded this album, it is considered by many jazz buffs to be one of the finest piano-trio recordings ever. Sensible brush work by Nay, unique bass-playing by Trunk, fine solo-parts by Huydts. But more important is how the tracks are structured and how everybody reacts towards the other 2 players. Great Bop, Modal Jazz, tasteful ballads and more. The sound-stage of the mono recording is just brilliant with incredible openness, dynamics and sonics.

For safety reasons and due to the weight of already more than 500 Gram I will place the heavy record in an extra plain white cover for shipping.

Condition: I have listened carefully and completely to the record on my REGA PLANAR 9 w. EINSTEIN MC and also my LINN AXIS w. DENON MC.

Side 1 looks ex in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks ex- under a very strong halogen lamp, there are just some superficial sleeve- & hairlines. All 4 tracks play in mint-, even in the quietest moments, and there are many of them ( bass-soli etc. ).

Side 2 looks the same as side 1 concerning the first and the third track, the playback of these 2 tracks is also in mint- all of the time. The second track looks ex to ex- in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks ex-- to vg++ under a very strong halogen lamp, there are few very short and tiny but obvious lines in one smaller area of the last third of this track. The playback of this particular part is like this: it is the beginning of the last bass-solo, you hear some low tics, mostly singular, once a few in a row, there's only one tic wich is a little more prominent, the rest is more next/behind the music ( remember it's a bass-solo ). This happens on a length of ca. 1 minute, and it's really not that disturbing, the remaining 9:00 minutes of this track play in mint-.

The photo of the label of side 2 has a reflection of me plus camera in the run-out groove in the lower right corner, this is no discolouration or defect.

The cover shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact without any rub, front & back are absolutely fine with just slightest wear/darkening in very few spots on the back, here is also a small circular stamp in the upper right corner; overall mint--.

Zustand: Ich habe mir die LP sorgfältig und komplett auf meinen 2 Plattenspielern angehört (REGA PLANAR 9 mit EINSTEIN MC und LINN AXIS mit DENON MC).

Seite 1 sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe ex aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie ex – aus, es sind einige oberflächliche sleeve- & hairlines vorhanden. Alle vier Titel spielen durchgehend in mint-, auch in den vielen sehr ruhigen Momenten (Bass-Solo etc.) .

Seite 2 sieht beim ersten und dritten Stück genauso wie Seite 1 aus, auch akkustisch ist es bei beiden Titeln dasselbe Abspielverhalten in durchgehendem mint-. Das zweite Stück sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe ex bis ex- aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht es ex-- bis vg++ aus auf Grund einiger kurzer aber mehr offensichtlichen Lines innerhalb eines kleineren Bereichs im letzten Drittel von diesem Stück. Die Wiedergabe ist an dieser Stelle so: es ist das letzte Bass-Solo des Stücks, man hört einige leisere Tics, die meisten vereinzelt, einmal ein paar hintereinander, nur ein einziger Tic ist etwas hervorstehender, der Rest ist mehr neben/hinter der Musik (wie gesagt, es ist ein Bass-Solo). Das Ganze betrifft eine Länge von ca. 1 Minute, es ist wirklich nicht sooo störend, die restlichen 9:00 Minuten des Titels spielen durchgehend in mint-.

Auf dem Foto der Label-Etikette von Seite 2 sieht man in der Auslaufrille Spiegelungen von mir und der Kamera; das ist keine Verfärbung, Defekt o.ä.

Das Cover hat nur einen Hauch allerleichtester Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt und ohne irgendwelchen Abrieb, Vorder- & Rückseite sind wirklich schön mit nur sehr geringer Nachdunkelung an wenigen Stellen auf der Rückseite, dort ist in der oberen rechten Ecke ein kleiner kreisförmiger blasser Stempel; insgesamt in mint--.

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
