Trifle made one album and it has been a collectors item for years. The songs like ‘Alibi Annie’ are fairly typical of the time, the lyrics are less than deep but they serve to create a baseboard for the musicians and the quality there is really something. Because the horn section of Barry Martin (saxes), John Protchard (Trumpet) and Dick Cuthell (Trumpet) are an integral part of the band the music is written with horns in mind and this creates a more powerful and subtle sound. Not that George Bean’s guitar or vocals are weak, they aren’t and Speedy King works well with Rod Coombes to anchor the rhythm section.
The best numbers are those where they try to create something unique and they hit the spot on ‘Is It Loud?’ with the horns in a very jazzy space and the keyboards meandering beautifully all creating a mesmerising sound that is a combination of Nucleus and ELP if you can imagine such a thing. ‘Old Fashioned Prayer Meeting’ has a gospel and funky feel to it and ‘New Religion’ is very dark and moody and there is a touch of menace about the number but the standout track on the album is undoubtedly ‘Devil Comin’ – which has more than a touch of voodoo about it and a beaten rhythm that chills the listener..


 This is a super rare first UK pressing with first press A-1 B-1 matrix marks, first press gatefold textured sleeve with "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patent Pending" text.
Pressed on heavy duty 160gm vinyl.

Strong sound free of loud pops or loud clicks. The record plays with minimal surface sound during the tracks but nothing that interferes or dominates the music.

THE VINYL AUDIO
All the way through every track plays with sharp definition. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the brass, bass guitar and drums.  With the clear and extra loud first cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.
This great record plays with no loud pops or loud clicks and absolutely no skips or repeats.   A solid all round example of this great  vinyl. Graded as EX/VG+. No loud tics loud clicks or loud pops. 
EX means:- The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
There are NO surface marks. Super condition for a near fifty year old record.

THE RECORD – VISUAL GRADING  
A great piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings. Easy EX.

This is a great cover too. ALL edges are strong and true. The spine is square and fully legible.. There are no creases on this sleeve.  Mild corner wear.  The flecks you can see in the photos are part of the design cover AND NOT marks on the sleeve.  They are also prone to ring wear especially on the rear. This one is not!
A great solid example. All round, this is a really nice original cover. Grades as EX.

RARITY
A first pressing of "First Meeting" in this type of condition is scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any EARLY UK PRESS example with a record in this type of condition, that plays with great AUDIO is very rare.
The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is one of the best examples.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.
V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
 Further information. All records are separated from the covers and    sent in a brand new polythene sleeve and packed in heavy duty cardboard.
