This is the ORIGINAL UK MONO 1st pressing from 1967 on the 1st Press Pink Island “eye Circle” logo label and 1st Press gatefold laminated flipback cover. This LP is seriously RARE AND VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND!

Another real piece of rock history! This was TRAFFIC’S FIRST LP, and is one of their most sought after!

It is the genuine article and in MONO! This is how you'd have heard it on pirate radio back in the 60's. Not many people had stereo in those days. It definitely has a different sound and is mixed as it was originally planned to be.

Mono was the main format of the day and so those mixes were done at separate sessions for each track. Mono was where all the work and time went and the stereo mix was pretty much cobbled together as an afterthought.

The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl and is visually graded in very good condition only.  The value of this record is on its rarity rather than the condition. Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is 48 years old that has been played and will not transform into anything else.

The  PINK “EYE” ISLAND labels are in excellent condition.

The notoriously flimsy Ernst J Day laminated 1st Press fold over is in very good condition with creases, edge and corner wear. No names or graffiti inside with the exception of the original one printed by the band (In memory ....)

The spine is worn out and split in the middle.

THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VERY HARD TO FIND - SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS  OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A FIRST PRESSING OF THIS CLASSIC ALBUM.

PLEASE VISIT MY OTHER ITEMS AS I REGULARLY LIST RARE EARLY LPs from JIMI HENDRIX, LOVE, WHO, CREAM, PINK FLOYD, DAVID BOWIE, TRAFFIC, LED ZEPPELIN, etc….

Play-grading MONO records: Mono records and stereo records have different grooves. A stereo record produces a stereo sound via both lateral and vertical groove modulation whereas a mono record is not intended to produce any sound from vertical modulation. Playing a mono record with a stereo cartridge will create distortion because it is trying to pick-up the vertical (stereo) part of the signal, whereas this is not intended to be heard on a mono record and so is just noise.  Using a pre-amp with a mono switch will eliminate the noise caused by vertical modulation leaving just the lateral groove signal which is how the record was intended to be heard. If you do not have a mono switch on your amp or pre-amp you will be reproducing the noise from the vertical part of the signal and so the record will not sound as good. This is not any fault of the record, it is inherent to playing any mono record through a system that it was not designed for.

Visually-graded vinyl: A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. A visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and fifty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect. Unless specified all my vinyl is visually graded.

Guide to grades used

Mint

Cover - Looks new - no marks, wear or damage

Disc - Looks unplayed - no marks visible

Near Mint

Cover - Looks virtually new with signs of handling- Minor wear creases but no marks or damage. Light sleeves may show slight discoloration due to age.

Disc - May have minor scuffs &/or hairline scratches caused by moving record in & out of paper sleeve

Excellent

Cover - Slight signs of wear on edges/spine, corners or ring wear. No damage caused by sticker removal/residue.

Disc- The record has been played and will have some superficial marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.

Very good

Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.

Disc - The record has been played frequently and has noticeable surface marks, occasional light scratches and paper scuffs.

Good

Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.

Disc - The record looks very well played and the sound quality has probably deteriorated noticeably. A lot of surface marks/scratches. Usually used as collection filler
