My favorite Traffic album and one of my favorite psych albums. The diversity here is stunning and requires a bit of effort from the listener. Not much here is immediately catching but given enough time the subtleties and experimentation become stunning. The band, Deep Feeling, was the band of Capaldi before Traffic. Deep Feeling was in the midst of recording an album with Giorgio Gomelsky and helping during those sessions were Dave Mason and Steve Winwood. The goal of Deep Feeling was to wed world influences with rock and come up with a unique sound. The surviving Deep Feeling tracks (which are now released by Sunbeam) testify to this effort and are very interesting in their own right. During the sessions, Capaldi left Deep Feeling to form Traffic and much of what Deep Feeling had started carried over into the sessions for Mr. Fantasy. An album that is more interested in creating interesting sounds than with how many copies it would sell, it's quiete obvious from the first tack, "Heaven Is In Your Mind" that this wasn't anything like Spencer Davis or easily digestible rock. A classic album of the period and it still stands on it's own. Essential.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)             The record comes in a poly-lined inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the vinyl from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER):

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         The laminated cover has a few air 'bubbles' and wrinkles in lamination (this is a common problem with most laminated 50’s and 60’s covers

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-         Minor yellowing noted on the INSIDE gatefold

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
