Description
TRAFFIC "BEST OF TRAFFIC" Original U.S. 1969 stereo LP (United Artists) UAS-5500 VG+/M-. 11 track greatest hits compilation w/"Paper Sun", "Hole In My Shoe" & "Dear Mr. Fantasy".
This greatest his compilation contains 11 of the best tracks by Traffic from their first 3 albums including the early singles "Paper Sun" (the 4:20 long version is contained here despite the erroneous listing of 3:23) & "Hole In My Shoe". Led by Steve Winwood, the 19 year-old wunderkind from the Spencer Davis Group on keyboards, the rest of the band consisted of Dave Mason on guitar & sitar, Chris Wood on sax & flute & Jim Capaldi on drums. Their sound was an eclectic mix of psychedelia, pop & soul somewhat reminiscent of the Beatles. Most of their best material is represented on this record which was released after the band broke up when Steve Winwood joined Blind Faith- "Dear Mr. Fantasy" & "Forty Thousand Headmen" are especially strong LP tracks. Blind Faith disbanded after only one album & Traffic soon regrouped for "John Barleycorn Must Die" minus Dave Mason who embarked on a solo career in the U.S. But those first albums "Mr. Fantasy", "Traffic" & "Last Exit" produced great material which has stood the test of time.
Side 2 1. Medicated Goo 2. Forty Thousand Headmen 3. Feelin' Alright 4. Shanghai Noodle Factory 5. Dear Mr. Fantasy
Cover is intact & looks great w/no tears or writing. Minor scuff on the front (nearly negligible) keeps it from a higher grading. It still rates VG+.. The stereo record has red & orange stereo United Artists labels w/no visible spindle marks. It has no scratches or scuffs & has received very few plays. It is in near MINT condition.
