MORNING WAY lp
Original 1970 UK stereo lp on Dawn [ DNLS 3004]
Laminated gatefold sleeve with rare original photo insert [which nearly always goes missing!!]
Only released lp from this UK band formed by original Fairport Convention vocalist Judy Dyble and former Them guitarist Jackie McCauly. Other members are Ray Elliot , Andy White and John Godfrey. Tracks are Jenny May , Children Of Oare , Three Rings For Eleven Kings , Down And Out Blues , The Mixed Up Kind , Better Than Today , In My Loneliness , Sheena , The Mutant , Morning Way , Velvet To Atone , Luke That Never Was. Scarce lp that I think has been overlooked to a certain extent. This could be due to the fact that it's always been pretty hard to find , probably a good bit more than lps by the likes of Trees , Spriguns etc which although they may be more expensive tend to turn up more frequently and consequently get more attention. I have to say that when I first heard Morning Way I thought it was good but wasn't totally blown away. It is however a lp which definitely grows on the listener and has some lovely inventive moments with it's use of Celeste , Harpsichord ,strings etc. and deserves a place in the history of UK folk rock[or whatever subgenre you care to call it] with The Mixed Up Kind , the title track and some of the others standing up to comparision with anything in a similar vein from the period. Although I'm the one selling so maybe you'd say I would say this - I think this is one of those lps which is going to creep up in price pretty much every time it comes up on Ebay for a while.
CONDITION
The gatefold sleeve is in nice shape ,EX at least , spine is clean and clear , the colourful inner of the gatefold is clean with only a hint of discolouration in a couple of spots . Vinyl is nr. Mint , still nice and shiny. There are a couple of short,very light marks visable under a 100 watt light but these have no effect on the sound whatsoever. The rare photo insert is ex or nr.mint with only the lightest signs of wear of age.All in all a great keeper copy of a rare lp complete with the original insert whch it would be hard to better. ***If you're wondering why there is no picture with the listing - my computer is playing up , I need javascript switched on to post a pic onto Ebay but if I turn it on my computer seizes up and I cant do anything at all. 8(
