Few groups captured the beautifully unravelling spirit of early 70s Scandinavian psychedelia quite like Sweden's Trad, Gras och Stenar. By the time this final statement for Silence arrived in 1972, the band had spent years pushing themselves through endless touring schedules and marathon live performances that aimed for complete psychic overload night after night. You can hear the exhaustion creeping into the music here, though it gives the record a powerful sense of collapse. The guitars on tracks like 'Nar Lingonen Mognar' and 'All Along The Watchtower' drift between loose communal groove and total fried disorientation, while the extended improvisations feel less interested in virtuosity than pure collective momentum. The newly added live recordings from Denmark and Gothenburg only deepen the picture. Beautifully ragged music from a group running gloriously on fumes.
