The very first TANGERINE DREAM album -- a groundbreaking acid space progressive featuring great fuzz guitar sudden eruption freak-outs within the deep cold outer zones of the way way out there...

  Electronic Meditation was recorded in a rented factory in Berlin in October 1969, using just a two-track Revox tape recorder... Its style is a unique form of electronic progressive-art music, and adventurous psychedelic rock mixes. Its instrumentation ranges from conventional instruments such as the distortion (fuzz) guitar, organ, drums, and cello to various custom made electronic devices implemented by Edgar Froese and found sounds such as broken glass, burning parchment, and dried peas being shaken in a sieve. The backwards vocals at the end of side two are actually Edgar Froese reading from the back of a ferry ticket from Dover to Calais.   Electronic Meditation is the only Tangerine Dream album to feature the line-up of Froese, Schulze and Schnitzler and include primitive fuzz guitar ...   The results of their experimentations are sometimes uneven, mainly due to poor editing, but the music is unlike anything heard before or since. From the blaring of Schnitzler's cellos to Schulze's hypnotic and explosive drumming and Froese's freaked out guitar licks (and that's just on the first 2 tracks), "Electronic Meditation" takes off for the cosmos and never returns. On later tracks, add Froese's keyboards and moogs for added textures- the only partial sign of what would come later for the re-invented band. But on this Lp, it is Schulze and Schnitzler that dictate the pace and orientation of the Lp. It is pure psychedelia and avant-garde at once.   This music is mad. Absolutely insane, but in a good way.
This is the first album of Tangerine Dream, the ambient krautrock dudes.
