Absolutely one of our favorite hippie blues albums.  There is not a weak moment on this recording.  While one could argue that Canned Heat's influence was not seminal, we would argue that this recording was one of the most successful protest records in a time of turmoil.  Highly recommended. Canned Heat at their best.

The lengthy (8 minute) jamming on "So Sad" is jaw dropping, the feeling behind the track is tense - you cannot help but get into this and want to play along - every time. Then "Future Blues" to follow - another round of raw rockin' blues. If you were out looking for an intense rocking, body moving album - get "Future Blues", Amazing stuff. This is Canned Heat's final album with "Blind Owl"Alan Wilson in the band. Harvey Mandel substitutes on lead guitar for Henry Vestine who was fired from the band following an on stage argument at Winterland in San Francisco, but later rejoined. Future Blues shows Canned Heat at the peak of its creativity. Wilson's chromatic harp playing sounds outstanding on Sugar Bee. John Lee Hooker called Blind Owl "the best harmonica player ever". Fito de la parra, was one of the best drummers around, drives the band with the same power as Ginger Baker and Keith Moon. Vestine, Hite and Wilson had an extensive knowledge of blues history and they played with a mastery not often seen in rock bands.

Harvey Mandel's guitar is amazing and distinctive and , possibly even, superior to Vestine's playing . He brings something extra to this album with his amazing guitar . He is especially good on London Blues (great guitar work is stunning) , So Sad and Future Blues . 

 Alan Wilson's final recordings, included the prophetic, " My Time Ain't long" - Alan died at age 27 . Wilson also shines on "SKAT" which is a boogie skat tune with a unique flavor , reminiscent of music several decades earlier.

Bob Hite shouts with the best of them with his anthem song " Let's Work Together" .

CONDITION: The cover: is really hard to find THIS clean...yes a top M (-) gatefold that almost squeeks from newness when the thick gatefold cover is opened...one that almost ALWAYS has shelf wear -- not this copy, probably the best found in ages...bright orioginal colors, no bends, no seam splits and no writing anywhere ... a TOP copy!
