Description

Tony Schwartz - Sounds Of My City - on Folkways Records FC 7341. This is a 10" album with insert booklet, lp noted for early Moondog recording. Cvr/ VG++ (lite wear). The Rec/ visual Gd to VG with moderate sleeve wear lite scuffs which Do Not Affect Play.   From the web: This album of sound collages and ambient atmospheres recorded and narrated by the legendary sound archivist Tony Schwartz in 1956 in New York City, with street musicians, conversations, restaurants, alleyways, construction machinery, churches, synagogues, etc. One segment showcases the playing of a "blind street musician using instruments of his own invention" who often performed near Schwartz' home, none other than Moondog - one of the earliest recordings of the legendary modern classical/jazz outsider! This fascinating lp documents Schwartz' investigations into his sonic neighborhood, making for an excellent source of unique sound effects for producers/DJs/turntablists as well as an interesting artifact for collectors of NYC historical ephemera and the obscure reaches of the Moondog discography. Includes 8 page insert. Tracks are: City Street Sounds; Sounds Outside My House; People Sing, Dance, Pray, Talk; Children Play, Sing.
