Bought this new back in the day but not played it in quite a while (other than to check it prior to sale) as i have also have the stereo copy. I noticed a mono copy for sale a few months ago where the seller was eulogising over the fact that his stampers were 1 G and 1 R so i thought i'd check my copy out and found they were 1 G, 1 G !!
Played it through again and it plays as well as it has ever done. I won't insult your intelligence by indicating it's only been played once in 55 years. Neither will i bore you to death with all the adjectives and capital letters buyers often have to endure before getting to the nitty gritty of the album, but i can say it's genuinely a one owner album and it's been looked after. It was played sparingly at time of purchase before i then picked up a good stereo copy so played my stereo copy at times over the years since then. So my mono copy has remained unplayed for many years until checking it out again for this sale.
My gradings are according to RRPG
Sleeve - is in at least VG+. The spine is clear and solid. There are no annotations, no stickers or sticker removal marks (there were no stickers on it anyway when i purchased it). The flipbacks are in good well adhered condition. There is just a hint of light discolouration at sleeve entry and on the rear. There is the lightest evidence of ringwear on the rear but i only point this out as it is not excessive. At sleeve entry there is about a 3mm (opposite the shoe) dink/tear but this is barely noticeable. I'm grading the sleeve VG+ but being very critical with this. In fairness i have seen many such sleeves graded higher both in shops and at fairs. PLEASE SEE THE SCANS AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF.
Inner sleeve - Obviously the original advertising inner sleeve with patents applied for at the bottom. There are no splits or marks or writing of any kind. It is in VG+ condition.
Album - the album plays really well throughout with just a very light static crackle at the intros to both sides which dissipates when the music starts. Between tracks are quiet. There are no skips, pops, jumps etc.The album has been thoroughly play graded. With the exception of a very light mark half way through the last track on Side 1 (which is in the running direction of the grooves and which is non-feelable - i have tried to show this in the final photo) the only other markings are very light sleeve entry ones as seen with most albums and only in strong halogen lighting but this is being ultra critical. I have also graded this VG+ but only because of the non sounding mark. I am sure many others would grade higher
I have tried to give an honest appraisal of a looked after album. To be fair, it's a pretty decent copy.
I always separate sleeve and vinyl and send it in a cardboard mailer !! - so please do not ask me to do so.
After an attempted scam on me a couple of years ago, all my better albums are now macro - photograhed.
