NIGHT SCHOOL / SIGNORA STEINWAY ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by ORCHESTRA TOM SPRINGFIELD musical director BOBBY RICHARDS produced by MARCEL STELLMAN. Original UK pressing on the DECCA label (F 12830), from 1968. Eccentric vocal jazz / latin lounge obscurity by the cult arranger and brother of mod girl singer, Dusty Springfield ;) An outstanding double-sider. Features the killer bossa theme NIGHT SCHOOL with that quintessential English jazz sound. Beautiful, baroque piano vamps / funky Brazilian rhythms and effortlessly sophisticated English satire in the lyrics. A top example of UK lounge and a theme that reminds us of the most desirable Dudley Moore piano trio sound but with male vocals sung in English / French / Italian / Spanish and German into counterpoint scat / gothic harmony overdubs. Easily, the hottest theme from Springfield's Sun Songs Lp and far more elusive on 7-inch format too. Great for DJs. Booming production by Marcel Stellman. The SIGNORA STEINWAY side is unusual sounding lounge with dreamy pop psych male vocals and groovy latin undercurrent. Original 4-prong centre intact. Seldom comes up for sale. Rare 45!!! 

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines / faint scuffs from sleeve removal. Some light surface noises. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Record housed in original Decca label custom sleeve. Archive sticker and number in pen (front and back). Sleeve has very light wear and creasing. Rare 45!!!
