TOM PETTY Wildflowers EX/EX Vinyl LP/2 Record Set
Record label/brand: Warner Brothers Records 1-45759
Hard to find, long out of print "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty. Produced by Rick Rubin in 1994, Wildflowers was Petty's return to his roots; a less produced, more rock and roll feel. A great album!
Sleeve looks as new... very, very little wear. Vinyl records are glossy and play beautifully. There is a noticeable scuff on side four... doesn't affect play but the only reason I don't give the set a "Near Mint" rating. Comes with lyric insert in perfect condition.
Songs:
A1 Wildflowers A2 You Don't Know How It Feels A3 Time To Move On A4 You Wreck Me
B1 It's Good To Be King B2 Only A Broken Heart B3 Honey Bee B4 Don't Fade On Me
C1 Hard On Me C2 Cabin Down Below C3 To Find A Friend C4 A Higher Place
D1 House In The Woods D2 Crawling Back To You D3 Wake Up Time
Review: This is Tom Petty's finest album. He made it at a time when he realized he wasn't getting any younger, his midlife crisis work with Jeff Lynne past him, battling the end of his marriage; all those strange feelings were condensed and channeled through his songwriting, and the result was the magnificent WILDFLOWERS.
It's Petty's first album produced by Rick Rubin (who had already lent his talents to the Heartbreakers' teriffic "Mary Jane's Last Dance" the previous year), and the earthy, crisp sound is a perfect compliment to both Petty's voice and his songs. The beauty of Tom Petty's music is both the casual ease he seems to effortlessly slip into, and the way his songs just manage to stick in your head. At first listen, you'll always find one or two songs that stand out, and certainly the others are good, but not necessarily great. But then, they get stuck. Try as you might, you simply can't get them out of your head. And it's at this point that you realize, all these other songs are just as great. And by that time, you realize just how beautiful the album is. WILDFLOWERS is no exception. ~ Amazon
