Please read further for specific details about this collectable box set; I played all the records through at a pretty decent volume and in general most records play like new. I’ve got other new records that play with crackles and pops straight off the shelf so it’s hard to expect a set of 7 records not to have a few minor issues. Here’s what I noticed on these records both visually (directly under a lamp) and audibly (playing with a fairly new ortofon blue stylus); Side 7, a few light crackles in first track (it’s a quiet live track) crackle on last track at very start. A visible scratch/mark across this side. Side 9 a few light clicks on the first track and also on a couple of other tracks but pretty light. A small scratch/mark at start of track and maybe some kind of press/glue mark on first track as well. Side 10 noticeable clicks on the first track regularly through the first minute and then fading into the track. Has same mark as on side 9 first track directly opposite (this to me suggests some sort of production error) Side 12 a couple of clicks at the start of track 1. Side 14 noticed a few light crackles on the first track. The cover/booklet is overall in excellent condition, with the exception of a little wear on a couple of corners (pretty hard to store this without a little wear as it’s such a heavy record set/package). Also, as seen on the photos on the very back page there was some glue (obviously from production) that was still on the spine and it all peeled off nicely except for one little spot. You could paint that in with a marker which would make it less noticeable, but I’m leaving it as it is.
This is a beautifully packaged and presented compilation….I haven’t seen a box set as nicely put together as this before and it’s a must for a Tom Petty fan/collector and should only increase in value over time if you look after it.
