TOM JOBIM MEGA RARE BRAZIL FIRST 10” LP BOSSA NOVA

SINFONIA DO RIO DE JANEIRO, COMPOSED BY ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM AND BILLY BLANCO - You are bidding on one of the rarest Brazilian records issued in the Middle 50’s on Continental  LPA-1000 (10” LP). This is a Historical Recording and the very early embryo of the bossa nova movement. Only 500 copies were pressed. Orchestral arrangements by maestro Radamés Gnattali and includes the participation of  Dick Farney, Elizete Cardoso; Lucio Alves; Doris Monteiro; Os Cariocas. The Sinfonia is divided into the following parts: Hino ao Sol; Coisas do Dia; Matei-me no Trabalho; Zona Sul; Arpoador; Noites do Rio; O Mar; O Morro; Descendo o Morro; O Samba de Amanha. The cover is in nice VG condition with some edge/corner wear, a small tear and some light water stains and a small name written ob back cover. The record is in G condition only, but still plays through very nicely with some background surface noise/ckicks. NO Skips or Jumps.

 

 

GRADING SYSTEM:

 

In general, the records are visually graded. When in doubt, I will also play grade them.

 

I use “Goldmine Magazine” grading method, in accordance with the following sequence:

 

  • MINT (M) 
  • NEAR MINT (NM)
  • VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)
  • VERY GOOD (VG)
  • GOOD (G)

(+ or -)  Slightly better or worse than the grade given.

 

My highest grade for a non-sealed record is usually NM (Near Mint).
