Floyd Radford (guitar), Jeff Cole (bass) and Mike Logan (drums) were members of a 6 piece band that played around Orlando, Florida called “The Marshmellow Steamshovel”. They were a pretty hot band, but they didn’t always get along. Once when they were playing a gig in St Augustine, Floyd, Jeff and Mike decided to start the show early as a three piece and played a lengthy version of “Hey Joe”. The crowd went wild and the other band members were staring daggers at them. After the show, the three decided to quit and have a go at it on their own. Six months of practice and several original tunes later, they played their first gig at the Youth Center in Winter Park. It was all uphill from there as they established themselves as the hottest band going in Florida. When playing the “Winters End Pop Festival” in front of 100,00 people, they got a standing ovation and played three encores. Because of this, they were scheduled to open for “Johnny Winter” the next night. Steve Paul (Johnny’s manager) asked the band to look him up if they ever got to New York. Gigs were then plentiful and they put together a DEMO tape at BEE JAY Studio’s in Orlando. The tape was sent to Clive Davis at CBS in NY and the tapes got to Larry Coen (president of EPIC). The Tin House reputation was already known in New York and they were invited to record a full album. Steve Paul became their manager and everything fell into place. The music is full of heavy guitar from Floyd with wah-wah and sustain. Living in a big house next door to Johnny Winter and playing all the clubs around New York city was a dream come true. They toured up and down the east coast and Canada backing Johnny, but then “Edgar Winter” wanted Floyd to play for him. Tin House had to give up a tour of the west coast (with Mountain) and eventually Floyd Radford wound up a permanent guitar player for “Edgar Winter”. They broke up with the departure of Floyd. Tin House were at the top of the mountain and dropped just that quick. 40+ years later, they are back together in Florida playing again.
The album Cover has some edge wear and has some minor water damage, but because of the cover picture its difficult to tell. The water damage is only slight and more noticeable on the back side bottom. Only slight warpage, bubbling. The Record has some visible marks, but it plays mostly EX throughout. A solid album and fairly rare.
