One of Buckley's best albums, on par with Starsailor, though (unfortunately) it is often overlooked. This album is an amazing journey into the mind of Buckley. The album starts with a sinister organ, and Buckley's tortured vocals. From then on we are served more spiritual and warm songs, that are equally effective. "Drifting" might be my favourite Buckley song, incredibly romantic and passionate, with moody guitars, and again Buckleys awestriking vocals. Buckley has one of the most original vocals in rock history, and his music seems so detached from all other music. You should definately check this album out, though I'm not sure if it is the best album for beginners.

This is the music that requires – indeed, demands – both intense attention and personal involvement; but for those who can find energy, will and perseverance to work their way through the album's convoluted structure and aesthetics,  LORCA offers a great reward.

This album remains  one of the true gems of the psychedelic singers/songwriters era. Done in one bold stroke during the summer of 1969, the recording sessions also produced material for his "Blue Afternoon" album, for a different label - Frank Zappa's "Straight" label), Buckley recorded this gorgeous work just as he was contemplating the direction his music and his life were taking at this point. He apparently felt he was being pushed into unmitigated commercialism and he decided to take a 180-degree turn. Before he exploded into full-fledged hermeticism of the "Starsailor" (1970), he managed to record a somewhat less radical album that most of his audience could still  relate to. This is the music to drift away by. Music to meditate on the meaning of Cosmos, or - simply - music to watch people go by. A timeless piece of meditative, transcendent, luminous poetry, backed by an incredibly talented and competent, but also unobtrusive and subtle bunch of musicians. The original album sold a meager few thousand copies and promptly disappeared from the stores, never to be seen in the next  20 years..Grab this great, legendary folk-psych album before someone else does.

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(c)         The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

THE COVER IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP;  HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS VG++

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Back cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there, affecting about 1/3 of the panel's surface

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-       Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 4 (back side)

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the bottom seam  (VISIBLE ON FRONT SIDE ONLY)

-       Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged (just a beginning of the split seam)
