Thrillington : Thrillington (Paul McCartney) 1 / 1 1st Press 1977 Regal Zonophone
This rare first pressing plays to an incredible standard with very little intrusion and this is detailed in my grading below. The clarity, depth, warmth and resonance of the audio is phenomenal and it's no exaggeration to say the vast majority plays 'as new'. The vinyl itself is in lovely condition and that is certainly reflected in the audio quality, it has clearly hardly ever been played.
The cover is in excellent order with only minimal wear which is mainly next to the spine on the front cover, namely a few edge creases. The inner sleeve produced with thick card is in superb condition, it is practically 'as new'.
This is of course an orchestral version of Paul McCartney's Ram album from 1971 but it was only eventually released in 1977. It was credited to Percy 'Thrills' Thrillington a fictitious socialite.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a stunning glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light there are only a small number of faint hairlines and nothing stands out. The lead in on S1 does have a few small marks but that is obviously before the music begins so has no affect! The run out grooves are very clean as are the Regal Zonophone labels - only the S2 label has a couple of faint spindle traces.
Play grading
The crowd intro on 'Too Many People' plays with perfect clarity and there is just one static tick after the music comes in. From then on there is no other background and the depth and warmth of the audio is hugely impressive. I will grade the intro as Near Mint but the rest is Mint including the fade out.
'Legs' is close to perfect with only a couple of minor statics, you could easily miss them. Sonically it could not 'sound' any better. Mint-
The intro on 'Ram On' has four light ticks and then plays very clearly from that point on. There are no clicks or pops and only a handful of super quiet ticks, nothing intrusive. The intro is Ex and the remainder Near Mint at the very least.
'Dear Boy' plays with stunning clarity and warmth through every section and the depth of sound is sensational. There is one very quiet static in the silent pause at the 'end' and then the gentle piano outro plays beautifully with just one barely audible static right at the end. I will say Mint- although it pains me a little to put the minus in there!!
'Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey' is 'as new' from start to finish with zero background. No need to elaborate it is Mint in every sense of the word.
'Smile Away' is just as strong and clear and has no inner groove distortion either. I only grade as Mint if there is literally no background and by that I mean not even a solitary quiet dust tick. This is Mint! The sonic quality is breathtaking for a final track - a remarkable side of instrumental music!

'Heart Of The Country' keeps up the good work with sublime clarity and warmth throughout. With only a couple of very quiet background statics it grades as Mint-
The very quiet intro on 'Monkberry Moon Delight' is perfect and just as the music begins (the violins are still warming up!) there is a static click sound. Aside from a couple of minor statics that is the only intrusion across the entire track so I will say Near Mint- this time. The reggae 'like' 'Eat At Home' plays with stunning precision from the first note to the last without any background. Mint
'Long Haired Lady' is close to perfect with only a couple of minor ticks and one background click sound. The vast majority i.e. 99% plays with impeccable clarity so again I think Near Mint- is fair.
The piano intro on 'Back Seat Of My Car' plays beautifully and it continues in pretty much the same way. The clarity of sound throughout this entire is so impressive and this final track is no exception. I 'picked up' just one very quiet static and the power and depth of the audio is stunning especially on the end section. Terrific audio for a final track. The closing piano section again plays with wonderful clarity as does the errr trickling water!! A Mint- finish to a stunning album.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear. The top edge has just one tiny 'rub 'and the bottom one a couple and the spine has just a few small white 'rubs'. The corners have only minimal wear and the opening edge is close to perfect with only a minor touch of feathering at each end. The front cover is extremely clean with only some edge creases next to the spine which result in the white rubs on the spine itself. The back cover is superb with only a handful of very faint creases by the spine and a tiny corner crease bottom left. A fine example overall.
The inner sleeve is in fantastic shape with no side splits, no marking and no creasing either. No wear at all really aside from a touch of faint ringwear as you would expect. Stunning!

Postage & Packaging
I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
