- Volume 1 of this two-volume set comprises the first sessions Thelonious Monk recorded as a leader. It's impossible to overstate the importance of these sessions. They include some of the earliest recordings of Thelonious Monk compositions that would become standards.
This edition in Mono, was originally released in 1953 and was re-issued and cut using the "Direct Metal Mastering" technique for the Blue Note label in 1985. - Barcode: 07777-81510-1

Vinyl surface is pristine, bright and glossy with a few faint hairlines on Side 1 and couple faint scuff marks on Side 2...plays EX to NM with little to no background or surface noise.
Sleeve Grading: (VG+)
Bright and glossy thin sleeve cover has no cut-out, edge, corner, spine or ring wear; has creased bottom corner and small crease line on top edge. Spine in perfect shape and completely legible.
