Description
Welcome to the launch of the part sale of my own record collection. As many record collectors may already know I used to run a vinyl shop on here for many years and over that period put aside some gems for my own collection. It has come that time to break down some of it, so coming in the next month or so...Lots of rock, Pink Floyd, Who, Queen, Kinks Etc, many rare and fine collectables. I will try to add daily or every other day until they are gone,
This is an auction for The Zombies LP, Odessey and Oracle.
Released in 1968 by CBS records and has catalogue number 63280. This is the ultra rare mono 1st pressing with rough textured, orange, CBS labels. Matrix No..63280 A1...63280 B1.
Condition: EX+ / EX+. The sleeve comes in fine condition with some light discolouring/ finger marks on the rear. The corners and mouth edge have very light buffing, the usual small lamination creases seen when tilted to the light, otherwise tiptop. Please check the pictures for further clarification, a fine crisp sleeve in collectors condition.
The labels come in superb condition, both clean with no finger marks. The centre hole shows a tiny amount of ring buffing to side two but are otherwise as new. This record is hardly played with just a few spindle trails seen under the closest of examinations, when tilted to the light.
New looking vinyl which retains its new shine, under closer examination, again when tilted to the light a few very light/feather scratches can be seen on each side. I have obviously play tested and recorded this for my own collection. The audio is superb, the mentioned feather scratches are completely non-audible, no ticks, clicks or pops of any kind, no static feedback and very little if any lessening in sound quality due to play. The audio is certainly near mint, down-graded for the above mentioned non-audible very light/feather scratches.
This also comes with its original German inner sleeve which is in fine condition, no edge splits or dirt marks.
You will be very hard pressed to find this in any better condition, no doubt many traders would book this at near mint, but its true grade is EX+ / EX+, with better audio than graded.

After a question from a customer I was advised that this is infact the Mono LP, with A1 & B1 matrix, the lack of BPG had me assuming this was stereo. After a little online research I managed to track down the stereo release which is infact on different colour labels than the mono release and has an 'S' as a prefix to the catalogue number. Not only is it the Mono release but infact the ultra rare 1st press with A1/B1 matrix as opposed to the more common A1/B2 matrix. This mono LP contains horns and the true album mix as intended, the stereo release was forgotton and ended up being rushed through making, in some peoples opinion, a sham of the original LP mix. This consequently is said to have led to the breaking of the group. Hence why this LP is seen by many as there only true LP in mono and considered the psyche LP of the 1960s. I am sorry for the previous confusion, any other details or facts I would happily add to listing.
