Description
On offer is the 1967 LP by THE YOUNG TRADITION called SO CHEERFULLY ROUND on TRANSATLANTIC, catalogue number TRA 155.
The second album by The Young Tradition - individually, PETER BELLAMY, ROYSTON WOOD and HEATHER WOOD - maintains the standards of their debut, and is similarly in the pure traditional style of the Copper Family, although the singers are revivalists from the hippy generation.
This vinyl is PRISTINE, with a shiny lustre, no scratches, no scuffmarks, no pops, no sticking and no background noise. I would rate it as a conservative NEAR MINT. The textured labels are clean, with no writing, and no spindle marks. The catalogue number is stamped into the run-out groove denoting a first issue. The flipback laminate sleeve is excellent. with straight and sharp edges and very clean, with no writing or ring-wear. Only ever so slight indentations on the corners of the spine hint at its true age, which is nearly half a century. The ultimate up-grade copy, to all extent and purposes brand spanking new.
The inner sleeve - which is in excellent condition - is an original TRANSATLANTIC inner from 1967, advertising other Transatlantic releases, and, reverse, announces that the company are exclusive agents for Folkways Records, M.K. Records and Conversaphone Language Courses.
The album comes from the collection of the late Ian Chappell, director of the Hampshire-based South Eastern Museums Service. A devoted collector of folk music, Chappell would obsessively buy multiple copies of the same record in search of vinyl perfection. They were acquired by the seller at auction from Omega Auctions of Stockport in June 2012.
