VISUALLY, THE 46 YEAR OLD THICK VINYL DISC IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION! I HAVE EXAMINED THIS UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT AND DO SEE THAT THE PLATTER HAS RETAINED MOST ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL DEEP RICH LUSTER...PLENTY OF SHINE! THERE ARE SOME EXTREMELY LIGHT SCUFFS/HAIRLINES MOSTLY OF THE SWIRLEY VARIETY. NONE OF WHICH WERE EVEN CLOSE TO BEING FEEL-ABLE. NOR DID THEY EFFECT THE INCREDIBLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE!
THE LABELS SHOW HARDLY ANY WEAR AND ARE NRMT- !
PLEASE NOTE THESE LABEL PICS ARE BLOWN UP TO 2X THE ACTUAL SIZE! ANY IMPERFECTIONS APPEAR TWICE AS BAD AS THEY ACTUALLY ARE!!
PLEASE NOTE THESE LABEL PICS ARE BLOWN UP TO 2X THE ACTUAL SIZE! ANY IMPERFECTIONS APPEAR TWICE AS BAD AS THEY ACTUALLY ARE!!
OVERALL I FEEL THE VINYL GRADES AS NRMT- BUT WE WILL BE CONSERVITIVE AND SAY EX+!
THE COVER PRESENTS VERY WELL. THERE IS NO SPLITTING, WRITING,TAPE OR STICKERS ANYWHERE! THE SEAMS ARE TIGHT AND UN-SPLIT! THE SPINE IS STRONG, WITH SOME CORNER WEAR. THERE IS A CREASE LEFT SIDE BY THE WORD YARD-BIRDS. THE LINER NOTES WERE EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE AND PERFECTLY READABLE & VERY CLEAN! THERE IS MINOR EVIDENCE OF RING/SHELF WEAR VISIBLE TO THE FRONT SIDE LITTLE TO NONE ON THE REVERSE SIDE. THERE IS SOME MINOR FLAKING ALONG THE MOUTH EDGE REVERSE SIDE. THERE ARE SOME MINOR DINGS/CREASES AS SHOWN.
BASED ON THE ABOVE IMPERFECTIONS I FEEL THAT THE COVER GRADES AS EX
I HAVE PLAY GRADED THIS AND THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS JUST INCREDIBLE! EVEN THE QUIET PASSAGES WERE JUST THAT....QUIET! I HAVE SEEN AND PLAYED MORE THAN A FEW OF THESE RARE BABIES IN MY DAY. IT ALWAYS SEEMED TO ME THAT NO MATTER HOW NICE THE VINYL LOOKED, IT ALWAYS PLAYED WITH MINOR DISTORTION ESPECIALLY NOTICABLE WITH THE SONG "FOR YOUR LOVE" BUT THIS COPY IS THE EXCEPTION! IT IS BY FAR THE BEST SOUNDING COPY I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS!
THERE WERE NO SKIPS, STICKS, POPS, HISSES, CLICKS, TICKS OR BURPS!
I GRADE THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE AS MINT!!!
OVERALL THIS CLASSIC LP GRADES A VERY STRONG EX+
The Yardbirds are perhaps more famous as a launchpad for three top guitarists than they are for their own music: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck were all Yardbirds before their careers hit later heights. After building a reputation as a hot new London blues band, Clapton left in disgust when "For Your Love" charted on both sides of the Atlantic: he was outraged that the group should release pop music. Beck replaced him and quickly established himself as one of the most exciting blues guitarists around, showcased on Roger The Engineer (1966). Page then agreed to join, initially on bass guitar before switching to shared-lead with Beck. Their dual guitar assaults were powerful and mesmerising, but they only recorded a handful of tracks featuring both guitarists before Beck left the group just four months after Page had joined. Through 1967, the Yardbirds struggled to continue. Although their live shows were still thrillingly experimental, their singles were poor and didn't succeed commercially. There were also drug problems and musical differences, leading to most members giving up on the group in 1968. Only Jimmy Page remained, and he recruited unknowns Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones to go on tour as The New Yardbirds. The foursome worked so well together that they dropped the name to start afresh - and the New Yardbirds became Led Zeppelin.
In 2003, the Yardbirds reunited, but without Jimmy Page. Jeff Beck contributed to their 2003 album Birdland. It was their first album of newly recorded material since 1968. The reformed Yardbirds also went out on tour in support of the new album. However, Jimmy Page continued to refuse to be involved with them. (Credit Sound Unwound)

WE USE GOLDMINE AS GUIDELINE FOR OUR GRADING SYSTEM.
ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY INSPECTED UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT. I TRY TO PLAY GRADE WHEN POSSIBLE OR AT LEAST IN ANY AREAS IDENTIFIED AS QUESTIONABLE FROM THE VISUAL INSPECTION.
MINT
Mint records are in most cases sealed in original shrink wrap. The only wear permissible is to the shrink wrap itself.
NEAR-MINT
NM records have glossy vinyl. There are no visible defects such as writing, tape, or stickers on the labels. The labels should not contain any spindle marks (from someone blindly trying to put the record on the turntable) The vinyl may have a few extremely fine hairline scratches or light scuffs that do not affect the sound quality. The vinyl will "appear" to have been un-played (It may very well have been played and well-cared for) The album cover will have NO writing, tape, creases, folds, seam splits ,stains, ring wear or Promo holes or cuts!
VG+ (EXCELLENT)
VG+ records have glossy vinyl. Slight signs of wear, including light scuffs, very light scratches or slight warping that does not seriously affect the listening experience is permissible. Very slight intermittent background noise mostly in the quiet passages is acceptable.
The album cover will have no more than three of the following imperfections: light writing such as initials or name in one area, minor creasing, seam splits not larger than 1". Neatly taped seams of 2" or less. It may also contain very slight ring wear or discoloration, a promo stamp, punch hole or cut-out as originally sold.
VG
VG Records have more obvious flaws such as more pronounced scratches & lack of gloss. Groove wear and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail are common. When played there will be surface noise but it should not continuously overpower the music. There are NO skips permissible with no more than 1.5 grahams of tracking force. It is common to hear crackling and pops especially in the quiet passages. The labels may contain writing such as a persons name or initials or it may contain a piece of tape or sticker with or without writing. The cover may have some seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.
VG-
VG- All of the defects listed VG category would be more pronounced. The record will play through without skipping WITH NORMAL tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. The record will have many obvious flaws but still enjoyable to listen to. Generally if the record is rare, it is still highly collectible.
G/G+
Good (G), Good Plus (G+) Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping WITH NORMAL tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. It will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
