There is a sound clip that plays part of each song added at the bottom of the listing to give you a better idea of the sound quality.  

This is an extremely rare original 45 by The Why Four called "Not Fade Away" b/w "Hard Life" on Rampro Records R-118.  Both sides play VG- or better with noise in the background and have been heavily played, but it is a very hard 45 to find.  Listen to the sound clips of the songs below to get a better idea of the sound.  

I pulled the listing before it ended the first time I had it listed because I decided to get in touch with the leader of the band before selling it.  I've had this record in my collection over 30 years.  I recently played it for the first time since my cousin gave it to me in the eighties.  That was only to play grade it for this listing.  My cousin was friends with the members in the band and used to go see them perform live.  I don't remember all of the details he told me about the band at the time, just that it was a lot of fun, and this was a private pressing that they would sell or give away at their shows.  I think there were one or two hundred of them pressed.  I've always seen it written that this was a WI garage band but all of the members were from across the river in MI.  They mainly played locally in areas around the Michigan and Wisconsin border but did perform further south in WI also.  "Hard Life" is an original and "Not Fade Away" is a cover of the Buddy Holly hit.  This record looks rough and has considerable noise but both sides play through all the way without any skips or sticks.  The sound comes through also.  It is not overcome by noise.  I have listened to worse copies of rare records and enjoyed them.  I will not accept returns on it.  This is what someone on the internet had to say about the record:  Driving '66 Wisconsin garage band sounds with fuzz guitar, superb vocals and loads of teen R&B energy. Maracas-shaking flipside is a definitive teenbeat version of "Not Fade Away." Terrific disc.
