The Who- Who’s Next
2408 102 Deluxe Release date 1971 Stereo
A 1 / B 1
Virtually untouched vinyl of one of the best rock albums ever made. Every track a true classic. Very scarce to find in this condition . Inner sleeve is the true original of this monumental release AND THE most sought after by collectors !!!The Headhunters picture inner sleeve very difficult to locate and almost impossible to find these days!!!!
Sleeve
Single flip over excellent - condition ….the corners just beginning to show their grey tips. Spine is solid and square clearly showing the title. Spine clipped at both ends verifying a FIRST issue. Later issues were square and untapered. One corner crease on reverse and remarkably only the slightest sign of ring wear ,quarter of a circle . Many of these covers were damaged with massive ring wear and scuffs to covers. A decent copy.
Inner sleeve
Well collectors everywhere would love to give their front teeth for this. Impossible to find now as there were hardly any made and had strict limitations to numbers produced, hence the apparent rarity. However, to find this inner with one of the best , rock albums ever made, puts the cherry on this very rich cake! This inner sleeve is a beautiful collage of contemporary rock groups, printed in black, white and grey inks . The colours from this sleeve are projected with awesome clarity and display THE best artistic work ever viewed from an inner sleeve. Made to advertise various rock groups and talents from that era including great names on Polydor , Atlantic, MGM , Verve, Karma Sutra, Buddah and so forth. List of names endless , advertising the biggies such as Led Zeppelin, Dr John, Velvet Underground, Yes and many more..
Beautifully made and completely poly lined AND this one is very close to MINT!!! NO rips. NO tears....NO seam splits! !..AND the lining is tight to the symmetry of the sleeve. Lining is perfect with NO damage whatsoever. Very slight infintessimal surface damage on top left edge, slightly discolored owing to age on opening edge. Imprint only detected of some writing on mid-face but erased so can only see if angled against the light , otherwise invisible. So a near mint minus award given.. Now I know your pulses are racing…If you get your hands on a sleeve like this, you would be the envy of all who were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this awesome scarce inner. The jet black inks work intricately against the pure white of the sleeve to produce an eye catching display of artistic talent, far beyond anyone’s dreams. Will you find another like this? NOPE! Once in a life time opportunity, I am afraid to say.. but here it is and within your grasp gracefully decorating THE best Who album ever released.
Labels
All black TRACK format. NEAR MINT labels in immaculate condition.Just the lightest of spindle traces and silver text stands out very prominently. Matt finish and jet black in colour. Later issues were lighter and almost grey tinted. These labels are so rare in this condition as these records were played and played and the labels ended up with numerous markings and spindle wear. These labels are more or less perfect in every aspect and are stunning examples of this very famous early Track format.
Vinyl
Surfaces are unmarked save for one light hairline on side 2, only across the last track and is inaudible . Each playing surface boasts a beautiful mirror like sheen and is so rare in this condition. Awesome visual chemistry conveying a fresh, unplayed vinyl with tasty near virginal grooves. Fresh, thick chunky pressing, THE earliest issue as later copies were thin and flimsy. This UK press was cut by the finest of craftsmen and engineered like no other. That’s why collectors desire so much. These first UK presses are the very best and can never be matched.
Audio
Beautiful. Both sides open with a little static, but channels soon give a sensational performance of some of the best rock ballads ever produced. Tones are conveyed with a mellow warmth through a minimum of surface interference. Excellent for the most part of this phenomenal record.
Virtually unplayed vinyl with mirror like surfaces, encapsuled in THE most sought after Headhunters inner sleeve. And to put icing on to a very rich cake, this record was recorded by the Who at the pinnacle of their musical career, making it one of the best rock albums ever produced. A superb example of a monumental classic! AWESOME!!!!
