From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional MINT- example of the brilliant studio album by THE WHO titled “WHO’S NEXT”, Catalogue Number 2408 102 DELUXE. This is an ORIGINAL 1971 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the TRACK RECORD LABEL, with a lovely 1st ISSUE MacNEILL PRESS LTD un-laminated single sleeve. Complete with the rare HEAD HUNTERS INNER SLEEVE which only came with a few select albums marketed by Polydor in 1971. [The matrix numbers are the earliest A//1, B//2 and MG 12888 is etched in the run-out of Side 1].
The sleeve is in EX condition with just light wear and a few minor creases. The spine ends are crimped which is a feature of the 1st issue sleeves only.
The top quality Track record is in MINT- condition. It’s a nice mid-weight pressing with a tapered rim edge. Both sides retain their “as new” shine and the disc sits perfectly flat on the turntable. The matt black Track labels are unmarked with only a few short spindle traces near the centres. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole. The 1st press mix is quite different to that of later pressings. The sound quality is outstanding with wonderful tone and very impressive bass. Both sides play essentially as new. The audio playback is faultless. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence and there is virtually no unwanted noise at all. Even the quiet synthesized introductions and passages play perfectly with virtually no unwanted noise from the left channel (which is very unusual even on barely played copies). Please don’t underestimate how difficult it is to find a mint playing 1st press copy of Who’s Next. I have owned many copies over the years and have yet to find a copy to match this one. If you are looking for the very best-playing 1st press copy available – this is the one!
The poly-lined Head Hunters inner sleeve is in unmarked EX condition.
Overall this is a stunning copy which will grace any record collection.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
