THE WHO. - WHO~LA~HOOP. 2 RECORD SET
MONOMATAPA RECORDS. SERIAL 34 - 004.
THIS IS A STRANGE ONE! It's a recording taken from the Who's concert at the Spectrum, Philadelphia. It states 1980, but the Who didn't play in Philadelphia in 1980. It's more likely from one of the shows they played in December 1979, on the 10th and 11th. According to the "Who concert File Book", both of these shows were professionally recorded, so this seems to make sense. I managed to get two copies of this album, purely because it is so unusual, and apart from these two I have never seen it since, in over 20 years of collecting. I will give you the tracklistings as they appear on the centre labels. Note that Baba O'Riley is listed as Teenage Wasteland.
SIDE 1 - SUBSTITUTE - CANT EXPLAIN - TEENAGE WASTELAND - THE PUNK MEETS THE GODFATHER - MY WIFE.
SIDE 2 - SISTER DISCO - BEHIND BLUE EYES - MUSIC MUST CHANGE - DROWNED.
SIDE 3 - WHO ARE YOU - 5:15 - PINBALL WIZARD - SEE ME, FEEL ME.
SIDE 4 - LONG LIVE ROCK - MY GENERATION - I CAN SEE FOR MILES - WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN.
Here's the gradings. It's a single sleeve, made of thick card. I stored the records outside the sleeve, so it's in an excellent condition. Tiniest of corner ding's and faintest of creasing. The vinyl across all 4 sides is shiny and clean, very flat, with the faintest surface marks on one record. No scratches through the vinyl. Housed in plain white generic inner sleeves. The centre labels are unblemished.Excellent.
There's not much more to add, except to say It's one for the collector. Definitely one of the strangest cover's on any Who album, quite eerie.
