Signed by Craig Braun of Wilkes & Braun,
winners of the Best Album Package Grammy in 1973 for Tommy.
In 1972 Lou Reizner presented a concert version of Tommy at the Rainbow Theater, London.
There were two performances that took place that evening featuring the Who, plus a guest cast, backed by the
London Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Measham. The concerts were held to promote the release of Reizner's
new studio recording of this symphonic version of Tommy, which was released on Ode Records.
The studio version of the orchestral Tommy was issued in boxed-set format with a 28-page booklet featuring
original full-page illustrations by renowned artists Richard Amsel, Robert Heindel, Doug Johnson, Robert Grossman,
Charles White III, Mark English and others. Using the Pinball as the main character in the concept of the project,
designers Tom Wilkes and Craig Braun created a masterful special construction album package
that won the Best Album Package Grammy in 1973.
CONDITION
Slip-case has some surface rubbing and edge wear, inner board sleeve has minor rubbing, booklet is excellent.
The labels and dust sleeves are excellent, vinyl is excellent, no spindle marks, no scratches.
This 1972 album is a design and printing sample from the personal collection of the designer.
It was only used as a sample to be shown, the disc was not played, just some very light handling marks.
