A great opportunity to acquire a beautiful example of The Who's classic debut album. This is an authentic first press with the 1B/1B matrix.
It sold in relatively small numbers initially and has become extremely rare and sought after by collectors worldwide. Most that turn up are quite tatty and very well played.
The vinyl retains a fabulous glossy sheen and has a few small light lines and a small scuff mark on side one and some light surface lines and a couple of small scuffs on side two. There are no serious marks which affect playback. The vinyl plays through mostly excellent with a couple of clicks and pops on track 2 side 1 and some more clicks and pops on tracks 2 & 3 on side 2 and hence graded as VG+ but mostly excellent. There are no skips or jumps and some minor hiss and crackles on some quieter parts. The purchaser may wish to have the vinyl professionally cleaned to eliminate this.
The original first press "Clarifoil" front laminated Robert Stace sleeve is graded VG+ due to some age related general wear on edges with one 2.5cm tear on opening edge and one more serious thumb size bump on top edge (both pictured). The reverse sleeve has the first owners name & address on top left corner (see photo). All in all, a very presentable example of this genuine very rare collectible record.
The Labels are excellent and clean ( see photos) and have some spider lines around centre.
