Description
THE WHO - MY GENERATION.1965 MONO LAT 8616. BRUNSWICK.
Heres one that would grace anyones collection. An original first pressing of The Who's first album "My Generation". what makes it more special is the fact that it's the earliest possible pressing, complete with the stampers "MG 10256 1B / MG 10257 1B" in the run off groove / dead wax. Later copies had the stampers "2B / 1B" and "2B / 2B". Also, it comes in it's original "pinched spine" Robert Stace clarifoil sleeve, with the cleanest back cover I have ever seen.Even the spine is still intact and fully readable. I have been collecting Who Records and memorabilia for over 20 years, and own 3 copies of this album, but have never seen one better than this. Even the vinyl is still clean and shiny. Amazing after 45 years. Heres the full gradings.
FRONT SLEEVE - No rips, laminate fully intact, very clean, colours still vibrant. No feathering to opening edges. Some slight "rippling" towards the opening edge. corners intact, the faintest dings imaginable. Easily 9 / 10.
REAR SLEEVE - As I said earlier, simply the cleanest one I have ever seen. Flat, sharp opening edge, the original laminate still fully intact (where it wraps around the spine and bottom of the cover, the rear sleeve is not fully laminated). All printing fully readable. The faintest of ring wear, more like the shadow of ring wear really, not come through the cover. No writing on it. Only the slightest discolouration in small patches (see photos).Only mentioning in the interests of absolute honesty, I took the photos with a 12 MP camera, which is far more critical than the human eye. Bears the legendary " Laminated with 'Clarifoil' made by British Celanese Limited: Printed in England by Robert Stace." As the first pressings should. Corners same as the front cover. A fantastic example.
INNER SLEEVE - Original inner just starting to show slight age staining at top and bottom edge. inner plastic has become detached but is all intact. The printing (about the record and the equipment) is still fully readable and clean.
SPINE AND EDGES - Original "pinched" spine top and bottom. Laminate fully intact. Wording and serial number all clear and readable. Top and bottom edge all intact.
VINYL - Truly fantastic for an album this age. Extremely Clean and shiny, no deep scratches, the tiniest amount of faint surface marks only visible when angled to light. This is the same on both sides of the vinyl. You won't find better.
LABELS - The original "grooved" Brunswick labels are clean, no rips or stains, the faintest of spindle marks, only visible when angled to light. Also bearing the earliest "MT" tax codes. The Brunswick trademark, tracklistings and info are still clean and still silver. Fantastic.
There's not much else to say about this album, except that if you are a collector looking for a "keepers" copy of this, you would do well to find a better example than this. I will listen to sensible offers. I am going to be listing LOTS of Who records, many first pressings and rarities in the near future, so please take a look at my other items.
