Description
THE WHO - " MY GENERATION ", Brunswick Ltd. (LAT 8616) MONO, 1965.
This is the ultra rare, original UK Brunswick, first pressing of The Who's landmark debut LP. An album so important in British music history that if you don't know it by know you should probably have your ears confiscated! (for younger generations who find themselves wandering what all the fuss is about with British rock and pop from the 1960's, this is the place to start!).
As serious collectors of sixties vinyl will be well aware, "they don't make'em like they used to!" - this is a prime example of just how good a well pressed Mono LP can sound - even today's re-mastered, 180 gram, virgin vinyl represses don't come close to this in terms of energy and excitment. Most importantly this particular copy is still in incredible condition... most of the surviving copies of this LP have been played to death and now sound harsh and distorted of dull and lifeless as a result.
CONDITION:
VINYL = NEAR MINT (PLAYS PERFECTLY! NO SCRATCHES visible in daylight or under my bright grading lamp. Under the grading lamp I can just make out a couple of very faint paper scuffs, simply caused by taking the record in and out of the sleeve - these are completely inaudible and do not affect playback in any way at all. There is a minute amount of surface noise during the silent run-in (like every record), but as soon as The Who get started it becomes an inaudible distant memory. The music still has all it's original verve - NO DISTORTION, NO WEAK MUFFLED AUDIO. Has always been played (carefully!) on very high quality phonographic equipment. Plays really STRONG as only a good original 1960's mono LP can!)
LABELS = EXCELLENT+ (Great condition with no damage or defacing. The original black and silver still loook punchy. Only a few faint spindle trails mark it down)
SLEEVE = EXCELLENT (No big creases, no rips, tears or defacing. The front cover still has punch to the original colours and is good and flat - the only negative points with the front cover are a few very small brown spots along the open edge and the first signs of a tiny bit of delamination next to where the spine has a couple miniscule creases. Sadly the rear sleeve does have mark where a small piece of tape was stuck to it and a few faint brown mould spots, although overall still in great condition)
Note: ebay quality control and in particular second hand record grading does seem to have become a highly variable area. I must assure any potential bidders that we are one of the larger secondhand record stores in the country and with decades of experience under our collective belts, we know how to grade records! Please take time to read my descriptions of condition as well as my basic grades. In theory we can send this LP anywhere to anyone for the right price - if you don't see the postal option you need please get in touch a.s.a.p.
