MY GENERATION
Impossibly EARLY pressing letters and stampers (see below) *
Much sought after first mono release by The Who released in 1965 on the Brunswick record label with the DECCA groove as seen in the photos . The catalogue number is LAT 8616. First press matrices are MG-10256-1B and MG-10257-1B
Side one of the disc plays SILENTLY. There is absolutely no background noise on ANY of the tracks The ONLY noise is a faint crackle between a couple of tracks. There is no groovewear or lessening of the original sound, No fuzziness that so often comes with records from 45 years ago that have been overplayed. THAT's IT!! It really does sound that good. AUDIO grading is easily EXCELLENT and not higher but ONLY because of the crackle between some of the tracks. Visual grading would be VG+ with hairlines/scuffs
Side two has some surface noise on "I'm A Man" & " A Legal Matter" tics/crackle so AUDIO grading is VG+
There are some of the usual hairlines/scratches as you would expect but these have been taken sinto account in the audio grading, As a visual grading probably only VG
The front only laminated sleeve is one of those flimsy ones that Brunswick issued in the mid 60's and has survived remarkably well, No tears No writing though there is a slight bit of ringwear (only seen in a certain light) and the odd line crease at the spine BUT no lifting of the laminate, The rear has the original price , 32/2, written on it and again some ringwear and slight discolouration as expected but absolutely nothing serious. Graded as VG+
The labels are clear and legible though there are spindle marks from use but no hole wear.
This record comes with irs ORIGINAL polythene inner printed in PURPLE and not black as later pressings did.
*Brunswick records are pressed by DECCA in the UK and DECCA employed a Letter Code system which is visible on the run-off at 3 o'clock on both sides.
Brunswick used a code based upon "B U C K I N G H A M " with "B" being 1, "U" being 2, through "M" which is 0. These letters representing stamper numbers can be found at "3 O' clock" in the lead out groove area. So if your copy of has a "B" only, it is the very first stamper made from a given "mother." The "mother" number can be found at the "9 O'clock" position.
What makes THIS Record so impossibly RARE is that
Side 1 has a "B" first stamper and "1" mother and
Side 2 has a "U" STAMPER and "1" mother .
Most records have a combination of two or more letters and higher "mother" numbers.
No-one knows how many records are pressed per stamper ( maybe as low as 1000 ) but regardless of this what you have here an INCREDIBLY early pressing of this RARE Record.

NEAR MINT audio inspection has revealed no scratches or scuffs on the playing surface. The record may have been played but is undamaged. The jacket will be clean and unmarked with only the slightest wear.
EXCELLENT audio inspection has revealed no sounding scratches on the playing surface, but there may be a few light crackles. The jacket might have slight wear and/or creasing or fading.
VERY GOOD audio inspection has revealed some light scratches and/or heavier scuffs - if these sound I will mention this in the listing. The jacket might have creasing or other defects which will be pointed out in the listing.
