Thanks for looking at my item and hope you all had a good Christmas! Up for grabs is this original first press of The Who's My Generation from 1965. I'll try to be very detailed & honest for the listing as I'm sure there'll be plenty of interest. I've made the photos as big as possible but as always, ask away if you need further information.
Outer Sleeve: Complete, intact and readable. Spine good and clearly readable along its length. Small 1" tear on front just above the "N" of MY GENERATION. Some very minor wrinklage of the laminate to the front. Rear shows some minor water staining but only at one edge.
Inner Sleeve: Near mint poly-lined with some minor creasing but intact and no splits. Shows care instructions for use with "Microgroove Records". Made in England.
Record/Vinyl: Surface scuffs and blemishes apparent but don't affect play. Both sides play very well with no sticks or jumps. Record actually looks worse than it sounds. Labels are excellent with very minor spidering around the slot.
The Geeky Stuff: Label - Brunswick (long playing microgroove record). Made in England, Brunswick Ltd. London Label Code - LAT.8616 (MG.10256 side 1, MG.10257 side 2) Matrix/Run-out Identifiers: MG-10256-1B (side 1), MG-10257-1B (side 2)
I think the photos should say the rest.
Please remember that this is almost 50 years old and far from mint. I've played it through many times on a Yamaha deck with Nagaoka MP100 cartridge & stylus (spherical tip) and it's absolutely fine (actually sounds rather good!). I did try it with an elliptical Ortofon VMS20E MkII which is my main stylus and it didn't sound as good. I think in this case it's better to have a slightly less expensive/sensitive stylus to play with. If you have an older system, ideally with a mono switch on your amp, you'll be in Who Heaven!
