Marking the 40th anniversary of what has been named "the best live rock album ever made" by The New York Times, The Who's classic 1970 Live at Leeds album arrives yet again, this time as a "Super Deluxe" 4-CD box set on November 16 by Geffen. Originally issued as a six-track LP, the album has been released in increasingly expanded formats twice (1995 and 2001). The new set will include the 2001 reissue's complete 150-minute version of the February 14 Leeds University concert as well as -- for the first time -- a double CD of the recording from the February 15 Hull City Hall concert. The second show, considered by the band to be a superior performance (and venue, acoustically) to Leeds, was intended to be the original live album setting but was shelved due to what were termed "technical difficulties" in the taping.
