Described in the band's profile by AllMusic as: 

"arguably the first underground rock group of all time"

This listing is for an original first edition mono release of The Fugs’ debut album in 1965. Released by Broadside Records with the name: “The Village Fugs Sing Ballads of Contemporary Protest, Point of Views, and General Dissatisfaction.” 

The following year the album was renamed “The Fugs First Album” and was reissued under a different label with variations on multiple of tracks. This version, however, is the original (mono) Broadside release, which was recorded entirely in two sessions; the first in April 1965 and the second in September 1965. This record contains the original edits of some of the songs on the 1966 version and what is now the standard stereo version of the album.

Contained in this listing is the original album, the original inner sleeve, the original outer sleeve, the original 4-page album booklet/insert with credits and song lyrics for every album track, and the original mail-in form from FOLKWAYS RECORDS (parent company) for additional album booklet copies. The paper booklet and mail-in form are in perfect condition.

RECORD CONDITION: VG+

Some visual signs of wear on surface of vinyl, but the audio is not compromised. Both sides play well and without incident. However, it is important to note that the sound quality of the first recording session, which is the material on this album, is known by all official accounts to be audibly muffled. Please be aware that that is a documented feature of the original first press editions of this album; it is not a defect of this copy of the record itself.

SLEEVE CONDITION: NEAR MINT

Near mint condition with very minimal signs of wear at the tips of top two corners. Front and back textured covers are clean and unscathed. Black and white band photo and purple front and back cover label adhered to black textured sleeve. Band photo looks flawless; purple front and back cover label has very slight signs of wear along some of its edges, but overall looks great. Comes with original inner sleeve and paper booklet insert with song lyrics, plus original mail-in form.

My uncle and I inherited his entire record collection. Every LP we list comes exclusively out of that private collection.
