Offered is an original early 1968 repress of the 1967 "THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO" Vinyl LP on Verve Records # V6-5008.  This pressing includes the very rare peel off banana sticker on the front cover.   The rare BANANA STICKER is still 98% complete; the sticker has a couple very small surface tears but overall is a Very Good condition original sticker. Underneath is printed a pink banana but most buyers had to peel it off and tossed it away so today it's a prized collectible!!   The cardboard jacket is in Very Good+ condition.   The top and bottom seams are nice with no splits at all.   The spine is nice with all printing intact too.

The jacket is a second pressing as the back cover had to be airbrushed out because of copyright infringement.

The rarity here is the vinyl record. The record label on Side 1 is for MGMs “Celebrity Series”. Apparently they ran out of the normal side 1 labels and used a “Celebrity Series” label instead. It’s also possible that this record was supposed to be a rare “Celebrity Series” pressing on both sides but they ran out of side2 labels so they used one of the regular labels instead. You have to remember that quality control in the 1960s wasn’t like it is today!

The vinyl LP that goes with this LP is a 1968 "Celebrity Series" pressing LP which has all songs credited to "Three Prong Music" just like all the absolute first pressings all did.  This "Celebrity Series" 1968 pressing is for collectors who want to complete their collections of all early 1967 and 1968 pressings as this particular pressing is not that easy to find!! Both labels are Near Mint condition.  The vinyl has most all of its original gloss. We grade the LP between a Strong Very Good and Very Good+.  A solid copy!  This is an extremely rare LP in any condition!!!      Check out all the other rare LPs we are selling now!
