Description
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO. Rare as hell MONO 1st pressing on Verve featuring Eric Emerson torso on back cover. Full banana, extremely hard to find this in such good condition! East coast pressing indicated by "Side 1 and Side 2" on the inner labels. Includes original Verve inner sleeve.
The record was played through all the way with excellent audio quality! This is an album meant to be hear in Mono for sure, much fuller and punchier than the stereo version. Even a quieter track like "Heroin" sounds great, not perfect but super solid audio on this copy. "I'm Waiting For The Man" really shines in mono, full and powerful.

Vinyl is in VG+ condition with light marks and paper scuffs that cause occasional crackle, audio quality closer to EX on this copy, loud, punchy, and full round sound.
Cover is in VG with banana FULLY INTACT!!! There is a tear at the stem of the banana where the top of the sticker was removed at some point, there's a crease toward the middle of the banana. There's a line on the upper left hand corner of the front that looks like a cut from a razor blade? The back cover has some discoloring and ring wear. Wear on the top seam noticeable on the front and back cover in the corner nearest the spine, paper loss a few inches from the spine on both gatefold sections. The top seam is split about 3 inches from te opening, all other seams and spine are fully intact and solid. Some staining overall but still a lot of glossy color and shine.
Verve inner sleeve in VG+ condition.

The actor Eric Emerson, protagonist of some multimedia films projected behind the group during the EPI, filed a lawsuit against the record label for the non-payment of the rights regarding his image that can be seen upside down on the back cover on this version. So between March and April 1967 the album was suddenly withdrawn from trade and shops. After a few months, the album was redistributed in a few copies with a huge sticker that covered the top of the offending photo.
