This is an original United Kingdom MONO pressing of The Velvet Underground and Nico by the Velvet Underground and Nico on Verve Records.
The Velvet Underground and Nico LP is one of the very few LP`s ever released where you will find the United States release is worth way more money than the UK release. A decent copy from the USA of this LP in Mono will set you back £1,500 and rising as the years fly by.
On this exceptionally rare UK Mono release you don`t get the Banana Peel slowly and see and no gate fold with the Torso on the back.
Music industry talk for this album jacket is they call it a STANDARD cover. Standards cost less than half the price of a gate fold to produce and were issued to albums that were not expected to sell in large quantities.
However, this is exceptionally rare. And in this condition rarer still. This is a front laminated flip back sleeve and its a stunner. Just the very slightest ring wear a few laminate cracks near the spine, there`s a slight blemish beneath Mr Cale`s portrait and that`s it. The spine is immaculate and all the spinal writing is crystal clear. The back of the sleeve is spotless and the white is ULTRA white and shows ZERO sign of age despite being almost 60 years old.
I am happy to grade the sleeve as MINT MINUS.
The vinyl is ASTOUNDING. One of the finest conditioned records I have ever seen. Ultra clean it looks as if it were made yesterday. The very highest mirror like lustery sheen to both sides you will find a few of the lightest hair lines but you will have to search to find them and they have ZERO effect on the playing of this disc. It`s playback is IMPOSSIBLE to fault no background noise no skipping or jumping or sticking. If you are looking for the finest player. Look no further than this copy right here.THIS IS A PHENOMINAL PLAYER. I have been collecting records since 1978. For at least the last 35 years I have had dozens of copies of the Velvet Underground and Nico from all over the world. Of all the copies I ever had my hands on NONE have played as well as this copy right here. The dead wax areas are completely silent. When the music starts it hits really hard. I myself much prefer the Mono to the Stereo version of this LP it just has a little less sheen sometimes less is more....
