Description
Velvet Underground and Nico on U.S. Verve 5008. Mono original first pressing, with the rare "torso" photo on the back--very hard to find, as it was only on the first mono release, and the records were recalled almost immediately and a large sticker was placed over the photo. On subsequent printings of the cover (and all stereo copies) the torso was airbrushed out. Cover has some age around the edges + top (see pics). Inside, the gatefold has the original banana placed on the right panel - with the top stem missing. No writing, holes, seam splits on the cover. Nice spine as well.
Original mono vinyl has great shine but also many scratches VG- at best, would call it G+ if it weren't so shiny. Nevertheless, it plays with very good fidelity, with surface noise audible during quieter songs and passages. On my turntable, it also skipped a couple times, although the scratches are light enough that it may play through clean on another table. In any case, finding a clean copy of the LP is a lot easier than finding the original first press torso cover.
