Description
Alright...I've sold and bought some pretty rare records in my days on eBay, but this is probably the hardest-to-find piece of wax that has ever come into or out of my collection. We have here a copy of The Upholsterers' "Makers of high grade suites" 7-inch, released by Long Gone on Sympathy for the Record Industry. Better still, this is one of only 133 copies featuring the infamous "blood card" -- one of Jack White's business cards, hand painted and numbered (reportedly by the man himself). If you're looking at this auction, you know how rare this single is on its own, nevermind an actual blood card version.
The cover, record and COMPLETE set of inserts are in new, mint condition. I bought it directly from Sympathy, and it's remained completely unplayed (no need to risk a spin on the turntable when you can download the tracks). In fact, I think the only time I took the vinyl out of the sleeve was to inspect it and switch it over to a poly-lined inner sleeve. Flawless piece of vinyl. Run-off inscriptions read SFTRI 611-A and 611-B, respectively -- nothing else.
You get everything pictured: the great cover featuring Jack White and Brian Muldoon, the hand-painted business card, the sandpaper sample, the Klomp card, Brian's business card, the Third Man Upholstery sticker, the great, hilarious insert showing Brian and Jack at work, and the vinyl itself. This is really an amazing set for White Stripes and Detroit garage collectors alike.
I'm a collector myself, so I understand what collectors expect. As such, everything comes in great quality sleeves and will be very well packed. The White Stripes are getting ready to launch "Icky Thump," and early material associated with the band is certainly going to jump in value. Don't miss this opportunity!
