THE THE Soul Mining 1983 UK LP in an uncatalogued Variant Sleeve of this Matt Johnson classic with the pic Inner and first type labels, with Made In England text. Near mint record, sleeve and inner. Barcodes on LPs started in 1979, so that does not make this a later pressing, but as you can see, this has the barcode where the Some Bizzare logo normally is, and that Logo is where the Epic Logo sometimes is. Were Epic, as the parent company for this annoyed at their absence on the sleeve (the only mention is in the tiny lettering where the text refers to the legal status "Epic is a registered trademark of CBS inc", as shown in the last pic), and this was withdrawn?. Or is it a custom design for a specific chain of shops? I have no idea, but having checked in all the Discogs variant pressings, and the sold items in Popsike, I could see no other like this, I spent ages looking. I have added the close up of the Made in England text on the labels. These are hi res pics you can enlarge on a computer. Later pressings have full epic labels. Considered a classic of the 80s, getting in to all the long lists of must hear albums, usually picked in the top 5 albums of 1983 by all music journals as well. This has no pen, not warped or pressed off centre, no marks to the playing surfaces, minimal spindle marks to the labels, no damage to the delicate original inner. A tiny ding to top left rear corner is the nearest thing to signs of wear. Hard to price this so priced to sell instead.
