MOTOWN COLLECTORS - ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE ISSUES - ALWAYS HARD TO COME BY.
One of the rarest of the picture sleeve issues and seldom available, here's a stunning original 1964 USA first issue copy with the elusive picture sleeve of this great pairing from THE TEMPTATIONS with "MY GIRL" and backed with "(TALKING 'BOUT) NOBODY BUT MY BABY" on the US GORDY imprint # 7038.
Pricing has always been partly determined by the condition of the sleeve rather than the record itself and finding a copy with a decent matching picture sleeve has always been a challenge as many have become soiled and dog-eared over time with heavy creasing, rips, written annotations, price stickers, coffee staining as well as the inevitable deletion drill hole and ring wear. On a scale of 1 through 10 with "ten" being mint, I would rate this sleeve at close to perfection as a "9" with little in the way of ring wear and with one heavier crease along the bottom edge and without written annotations or rips along the opening edge.
The disc itself plays perfectly throughout with top audible quality and remains in a very strong excellent plus condition (plays as mint minus) with minimal crackle on the run-in and run-out groove and light surface sleeve rubs. The labels are very clean on both sides with a few storage rubs and not spoiled by a deletion drill hole and with little in the way of ring wear making this a top copy of this rare combination for the DJ or collector (see picture scans).
