THE GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE.
This is the INCREDIBLY rare UK second pressing of Funhouse with the Elektra butterfly . Originally released in July 1970 in the UK on the red Polydor label with the Standard sleeve. Standard being US music industry talk for none gatefold sleeve as they anticipated poor sales and were not disappointed. Then when Kinney took over distribution they decided to release Funhouse again just two months later in SEPTEMBER 1970. This pressing was in tiny numbers and has become known as the rarest USA release to ever be pressed in the UK bar none. This pressing of Funhouse makes the impossibly difficult first UK pressing seem common. This pressing strangely has the same catalogue number as its USA counterpart EKS 74071 and its the albums incredible rarity that makes it so highly prized by the growing number of Stooges collectors.
The sleeve has a few problems. The spine is shot and cant be read and has a split about two and a half inches long . The side panel has a cellotape repair down the left side and there is a biro mark on the front Just below Iggy`s collar. The inner sleeve is the original and has browning to the edges but it is in very good condition. The sleeve grades as good.
The record is much better. Side one has retained a very high lustre, it does have a few light hairlines but it plays all the was with no problems at all Side 1 plays EXELLENT . Side two in the opening track it has an unsightly mark about 10 mm long but it cant be felt and causes no problems at all probably due to the ferocity of the track. Overall the record is graded Very Good+ but it does play superbly.
Double click the pictures and have a look at the record labels. Both sides are stunning and this is one of the most beautiful record labels I have ever seen beautiful colour scheme and that Butterfly flying away with the old Elektra Logo.
This is undoubtedly one of the rarest pressings of FUN HOUSE by the stooges in existence .
