Description

After taking some time off from Ebay (for personal reasons) a couple years ago, I'm ready to continue parting with items from my
collection of nearly 40,000 promo singles, LP's & CD's from the 60's thru the 90's that I was fortunate to acquire from
doing 35 years of Rock Radio. All of my records are guaranteed original pressings.
In the 80's I advertised and auctioned off thousands of records in Goldmine magazine under the name of Hemp's Hits.
If you are a previous customer, you already know of my integrity as an honest dealer.
Those of you who are not familiar with me need only to check my Feedback. You can bid with complete confidence.

The most important thing you need to know, is that to the absolute best of my knowledge,
nearly all of the records I list, unless otherwise noted, have never ever been played on a turntable.

These records were sorted, stored, moved a few times, and then stored again for decades. Some carefully, others were not.
All of my gradings are strictly visual, and more often than not, quite generous. However, because of various quality in pressings,
I cannot guarantee that the pressings themselves will be noise-free. That comes with the territory.
Many 50's (e.g. Chess, Vee-Jay, etc.) & 60's pressings, especially the small independent labels, were pressed "on-the-cheap."

I will not play these records for any reason. The record you receive will be like new and unplayed.
If there are any imperfections, it will be from many years of storage, or more likely a "not-so-great" pressing.
I will also not attempt to tell you if I think the song is "funky-terrific", "psych-fabulous" or the like. My opinion, would be just that...an opinion.

MY GRADING SCALE

Grading below is for the disc only. I'll throw in the corresponding sleeve when possible.
Sleeves show some natural wear from 40 years of storage. Many are perfect, others are not.
(remember...unless noted, these records, to the best of my knowledge have never been played)

NM (Near Mint): Record will show no serious scuffs or scratches in the playing area. May have minor scuffs on edges from
decades of storage, or a small scuff, scratch or paper scuff on playing area
. It's near mint, not mint (which would be 'sealed' to me)
M- : A scuff or two or light scratch or two on either or both sides.
VG+: Scuffs and some minor scratches in the playing area. Some will most likely be heard.
VG: Many scuffs or scratches that will be heard but record should play fine.

Record grading is subjective. That's why I offer a money back guarantee on
everything I sell (no refunds on shipping charges). Bid with complete confidence.

THE SOULBENDERS - "7&7 IS / PETALS"
Unplayed original 1968 45 rpm in original PICTURE sleeve
Released in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Visually Graded Condition of disc : Near Mint (never been played)

Good ol' Mom. She was a big fan of The Soulbenders. She was pretty proud of her son who was a brief
Rock Star before getting into radio. She took a few copies of all the records he appeared on, and tucked them away.
I'm Aris...the lead singer and keyboardist of The Soulbenders. It took me a couple years to get up the courage to go through all her belongings after she passed away in 1988. Imagine my surprise...to discover this little package wrapped in plastic that was labeled "Aris' Treasures".
Inside...brand spanking new copies of all 4 of the records that I appeared on. Good ol' Mom.

Now...some 20 years later, in the Autumn of my life, I realize that it's time to part with them. Little did I know,
nor anyone else in the band back in those days, that anyone would care about this little discs...certainly not 40 years after we released them.
I gave so many away and didn't bother to keep any for myself. But Mom did.
And now, I'd like to see them find a new home.

This is the original Grand Rapids Michigan pressing of this sought-after 45 which has appeared on
nine different European compilations over the past 20 years. It's also the same record that was released Nationally a few months later
on Mala Records out of New York. This version is vastly superior to the Mala version, because...the last 15 seconds on the Mala version
is 1/4 tone lower (slower) than it should be. (A blemish that still haunts me today.) This is the original...sounds much better
(and besides...all Mala discs were pressed on styrene which always plays more distorted than regular vinyl.)

The record is spotless...unplayed. Some of the 'shine' is gone...but no matter.
The Pic Sleeve is mint.

Only 2000 copies of this was released...I know, because I personally placed the order. I'd venture that only about 1800 made it into circulation...I tossed many defectives (warped, split labels, etc.) back then...a common side effect of American Record Plant pressings out of Owosso Michigan.
It's doubful you will see too many more of these...in this perfect condition. Here's your chance.

Although this appeared on the recently released Fenton cd boxset out of Germany (without my permission), this was NOT released on Fenton.
That was my decision, and mine alone. I didn't want to release it on Fenton. There wasn't a single reason to...except to share the profits with someone else. That made no sense to me, and it still doesn't to me now. It was recorded in the same studio as all of the Fenton singles, and was engineered by the same crew, but there was nothing to gain by putting it out on someone else's label. (Fenton was just another label name
back then. It was not a 'selling' point for records...in fact...it screamed "Local" which was not a positive.)
I wanted to do it myself on my own label. That's the real story. (Besides...i thought this new word 'Phantasm' I'd uncovered...was neat)

This disc is perfect. If this is one you've been looking for...the condition doesn't get any better than this.
As a bonus...if you win this record, I will include an original SoulBenders business card, which is also mint.
It has a holygraphic look...pretty cool for 1968...they still even impress me today.

GOOD LUCK! I HOPE YOU WIN!______________________________________________

Earlier this year, I created 4 SoulBenders videos just for grins. You can see them all right now on YouTube.
The two tracks on this 45 are included. Take a look when you have some time.
(I highly recommend that you click on the 'watch in high quality' link just below the YouTube player for maximum appreciation.)
