This 7-day auction is for this outstanding stereo LP of THE SOFT MACHINE on abc Command Probe Records Label, #CPLP 4500, released in 1968. I am reluctantly thinning out my LP collection so this LP along with "The Soft Machine Volume II" and "The Soft Machine Third" are being listed on eBay.
This 3-man British band was comprised of Lead Guitarist Kevin Ayres, Organist Michael Ratledge, and Drummer/Lead Vocalist Robert Wyatt. Often compared to the early works of Syd Barrett and the Pink Floyd. Rated 4.11 stars (out of 5 possible) by Progressive Archives of Rock History.

The vinyl is in super pristine condition and plays flawlessly on my very telling system (VPI Scoutmaster Turntable, Lyra Argo Cartridge, Audio Research tubed Amp, Pre-amp & Phono-amp). The gatefold cover with fabulous working spinning gears insert is in near perfect condition with only a small hole punched through the cover's upper front corner. If you've been waiting for a super clean copy of this 37-year old album for your long-term collection, you've found it. Search no more. Get out your wallet and bid this one up. I am obsessive about the care the albums in my collection receive. This one will be properly packed with LP out of cover, bubble wrapped, corners protected, and cardboard stiffeners to prevent mail damage/puncture, etc. The empty LP sleeve will be stored in the cover which will be inside a new vinyl sleeve. No cheap lightweight paper boxes from me. The winner will receive it professionally cleaned and treated with Gruv Glide.
