THE SMITHS  -  'How Soon Is Now?'     3LP    Portugal      1988      Rough Trade / Transmedia   12005

Collectable Portuguese 36 track triple LP set comprising the ‘Hatful of Hollow’, ‘The Queen Is Dead’ and ‘Strangeways Here We Come’ albums.

Also selling the related ‘Half A Person’ triple LP set as well.

CONDITION:       I strive to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition.  It’s in my best interests to do so.  I WANT YOU TO COME BACK!    All records are checked in good light and play tested at a loud volume (unless described as sealed, brand new or stated otherwise).   All used records are cleaned using a Moth vacuum record cleaning machine prior to play testing.    STRICT  U.K. MAGAZINE  'RECORD COLLECTOR'  GRADING SYSTEM USED.

Superb playing condition!     Playing condition is EX, but with a lot of the tracks playing better than this.   Sounds great throughout.     Set has clearly had very little previous play.     Some very light consecutive pops on the fade-out of ‘You’ve Got Everything Now’ – these are very low in the mix.    Bit of light crackle in between some of tracks on side2 of Queen is Dead LP.   Some background surface noise on the quiet intro to ‘Last Night I Dreamt….’ which soon passes.      NO loud obtrusive crackle.   NO distortion.   NO loud repetitive pops/clicks.   NO jumps.   NO sticking. 

Visually, ‘Hatful…’ is in EX condition (side1 is better) – Light scuff trail on side2, some other very hard to see light marks.    ‘Queen…’ is in EX condition – small, light marks only.   ‘Stangeways…’ is in NrMINT condition, if not better - looks virtually as new!        All 3 vinyls look nice and clean and retain their original sheen.  

Labels are MINT.   NO obvious visible spindle marks.    All text perfectly readable.    NO writing.   NO tears.   NO stickers.

Sleeve is in VG condition.   Obvious crease/bend near the top.   Spine wear, a bit of corner wear.   An old sticker has taken a small section of the top layer of laminate off.     No serious faults, it was quite common for these sleeves to fall apart, but this one has NO seam splits and is still glued together.    NO rips or tears.  NO writing.

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or deface

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler
