THE SMITHS  -  'Half A Person'     3LP    Portugal      1988      Rough Trade / Transmedia   12006

Collectable Portuguese 36 track triple LP set comprising ‘The Smiths’, ‘Meat Is Murder’ and ‘The World Won’t Listen’ albums.

Also selling the related ‘How Soon Is Now?’ triple LP set as well.

CONDITION:       I strive to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition.  It’s in my best interests to do so.  I WANT YOU TO COME BACK!    All records are checked in good light and play tested at a loud volume (unless described as sealed, brand new or stated otherwise).   All used records are cleaned using a Moth vacuum record cleaning machine prior to play testing.    STRICT  U.K. MAGAZINE  'RECORD COLLECTOR'  GRADING SYSTEM USED.

Playing condition of ‘The Smiths’ LP is EX.  3 or 4 light consecutive pops during ‘Still Ill’ – these are low in the mix.   4 or 5 consecutive pops during ‘I Don’t Owe You Anything’.             Playing condition of ‘Meat Is Murder’ LP is EX-.    Odd random light pops in places, a dozen noticeable consecutive pops at the very beginning of ‘The Headmaster Ritual’.            Playing condition of ‘The World Won’t Listen’ LP is EX for side1 and VG for side2.   Some surface noise/crackle during ‘Asleep’.   Several consecutive pops at the beginning of ‘Unloveable’.    4 or 5 consecutive pops during ‘Oscillate Wildly’.      Overall, the whole set has had little previous play, with the vast majority of tracks playing perfectly.   Nice and quiet in between the vast majority of tracks.         Overall,  NO loud obtrusive crackle.   NO distortion.   NO jumps.   NO sticking. 

Visually, ‘The Smiths’ is in EX condition – A couple of tiny, hard to see nicks.    ‘Meat Is Murder’ is in EX- condition – small light nicks at the beginning of side1, a couple of light marks elsewhere.      ‘World Won’t Listen’ is in EX- condition.   Surface marks on first and second tracks on side2, small nick on ‘Oscillate Wildly’.      All 3 vinyls still look nice and clean and retain their original sheen.  

Labels are MINT.   NO obvious visible spindle marks.    All text perfectly readable.    NO writing.   NO tears.   NO stickers.

Sleeve is in VG+/EX- condition.   Bit of corner, edge and spine wear.   Small creases.   An old sticker has taken a small section of the top layer of laminate off.     No serious faults, it was quite common for these sleeves to fall apart, but this one has NO seam splits and is still glued together.    NO rips or tears.  NO writing.

Record Collector Magazine Grading System  - VINYL

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or deface

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler
