The Smashing Pumpkins : Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness 4LP Box Set 2012

This classic album was reissued in 2012 as a 4LP box set and the one I am selling is in superb condition with the majority of the original shrink-wrap still enclosing the box.  The LPs have hardly been played and I can only see a couple of faint tiny spindle traces on the first vinyl.  This edition was released in the USA/Worldwide.  The box itself is in fantastic shape as are all the extras.

Visual description

Pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl the records are visually stunning with no marks or scratches and still have that 'shop fresh' glossy sheen.  I can only see a small number of barely visible sleeve removal hairlines.  They really are in beautiful condition!

Play grading

I have played all the tracks either in full or in part and I can confirm the audio is STUNNING in every regard.  The title track 'Mellon Collie...' has only a small number of very quiet static ticks, more like dust ticks really, and then plays with exceptional quality as does the rest of S1.  The sonic quality across all 8 sides is spectacular!  The audio is so strong and deep and this really is a 'high end' pressing, you can see why it is so highly regarded.  The clarity is so impressive and this is very much evident during the quieter passages.  For example the slow build up on 'Porcelina...' plays beautifully with no intrusion.  The 'heavier' tracks also play with incredible power and depth and there is barely any inner groove distortion as you approach the end of each side.  Apart from 'X.Y.U.' the majority of the final record is very quiet and yet the clarity cannot be faulted in any way.  So many classic tracks on this classic album!  This entire box set certainly plays like it has never been played before!

The Box & Extras

The outer box is quite heavy and as stated the shrink covers the majority of it, only the opening is uncovered.  Some would argue it is 'as new' and it has indeed kept its shape perfectly.  There is just one very small 'nick'/white speck on the opening edge, nothing else!

This box set comes complete with a booklet containing copious notes on each track from Billy Corgan plus various photos and artwork and another 28 page lyric booklet.  Each record is contained inside a coloured inner sleeve and these are in turn kept inside an outer sleeve complete with stunning artwork.  All of the items mentioned above are in pristine condition.

This is another heavy boxset and because it is over 2kg the shipping costs are higher so please only bid if you are you are prepared to pay this cost.  International costs can vary so it may be less than the price stated and any difference will of course be refunded.

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
