So begins one of the absolute cornerstones of any 60s psych/garage collection presented here as an ultra rare original UK Stereo Pressing:
THE SEEDS: Future (1967 UK Vocalion SAV-N 8070 STEREO)
If you're used to the mono mix of this masterpiece you'll be astounded how it opens up in stereo.
Never gimmicky like some 60s stereo records, the tablas on "March Of The Flower Children" seem to have their own channel somewhere way off to the left. "Painted Doll" has a speaker pan & delay on the drums that make it a totally new experience. "Flower Lady" seems to surround you in instrumentation. On "Now A Man" Sky's double tracking serves a true psychedlic purpose. In fact, every track is a fuller experience.
And this is a fantastic copy. It plays silent, deep and lush.
Under harsh overhead lighting you can see hairlines but the proof of this still glossy bright vinyl disc is in the playing. No crackling, no scratches, no distortion (except from the band of course)
The laminated front cover shines mirror like and is free from crease and wrinkle. There is some ring wear to the reverse but nothing drastic.
The vivid green UK Vocalion labels are like new and free of rips, rubbing or writing.
This really is a wonderful UK vinyl treasure. Forty One years on...hypnotic and strange as ever.
