I gotta say, nothing beats the pre-Spector Ronettes. Tough, gorgeous and to die for. "He Did It" is such a great song. If all you know is "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You", you're really missing out. This is The Ronettes undiluted pure grade A.

Maybe this compilation of pre-Phil Spector cuts by the Ronettes is even better than the Spector-produced LP. If the blown up stuff of their "regular" album is good it is really great, but if the songs are not that amazing it gets overblown. Too much sauce on fries. Here everything is girl-group sound, not as edgy and strong as what the Shangri-La's (my favorite 60ies Girl Group) did, but sometimes really great, like on Silhouettes, You Bet I Would, What's so Sweet...., He Did It - and easy to see what Phil Spector saw in those three girls. Sure this music is caught in its time, a time when music like this may have been amazing. But i like to listen to something as innocent as this.

(a)         THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them.

(b)         The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

COVER IS STILL SEALED; HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT MINT OR NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS EXCELLENT OR VG++ (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

(PLEASE NOTE: THE SHRINK WRAP HAS SEPARATED ALONG ABOUT 60% OF THE LENGTH ON THE BOTTOM SIDE, BUT THE ALBUM IS STILL VISIBLY SEALED)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-       Cover has a minor 'bump' (dent) on the opening side / top  seam / bottom seam / spine

-       The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the back side (nothing significant)

-       Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-       Cover has a partially split bottom seam (less than 1 inch / 2.5 centimeters)

-       Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam (nothing significant)
